Get Involved: Make a Difference for Avon’s Wildlife

Avon Wildcare relies on the passion and dedication of volunteers to achieve our mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing native wildlife. Whether you have a few hours to spare or are looking for a more regular commitment, your contribution can make a real difference in the lives of these animals. Join our team and become a champion for Avon’s wildlife!

Volunteer Opportunities:

We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities to suit different skills, interests, and availability. Here are some of the ways you can get involved:

  • Animal Care: Assist with the daily care of injured, sick, and orphaned animals. This may include feeding, cleaning enclosures, administering medications (under supervision), and providing enrichment activities. Animal care does require specific training or experience. At Avon Wildcare we provide the best outcomes by ensuring experienced rehabilitators are care givers.
  • Wildlife Rehabilitation Support: Help with tasks related to the rehabilitation process, such as preparing food, cleaning equipment, maintaining enclosures, and assisting with pre-release conditioning.
  • Collection and Transport: Assist with the collection and transport of injured or orphaned animals, often from the vets or wildlife groups or members of public. You will need to have a valid driver’s license and suitable transport to assist with transporting animals.
  • Education and Outreach: Help with educational programs, workshops, and community events. This might involve assisting with presentations, preparing educational materials, or staffing information booths.
  • Fundraising and Events: Support our fundraising efforts by assisting with events, organizing fundraising activities, or seeking sponsorships.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance, such as data entry, answering phone calls, or managing social media.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Help maintain facilities and grounds, ensuring a clean and safe environment for the animals and staff.

Training and Requirements:

Some volunteer roles may require specific training or experience. We provide training for certain roles, such as animal handling and rehabilitation techniques. There are formal training opportunities available through some wildlife organisations as well.
